Your starting point

In Java, use /seed in chat if you can access the command. In your own Bedrock world, look for Seed under Game in the world settings. On a server or Realm, ask the owner if the seed is unavailable.

In this guide

Find the seed in Java

Open the correct world and enter /seed in chat. Copy the full number returned, including any minus sign. Modern Java versions let you copy the command output.

If the server does not allow you to use it, request the seed from its administrator. This map does not connect to the server to retrieve it.

Find the seed in Bedrock

For a world you own, open its settings and look for Seed under Game. Labels and layout can vary by version and device. Read the existing world’s number; the seed picker under Create New World belongs to a new game.

Multiplayer may not show the seed to every participant. Ask the world or Realm owner when you lack access; do not change the world settings to try to obtain it.

Copy the number without changing it

Paste the seed directly from the game or the administrator’s message. Preserve every digit: do not round it or convert it to scientific notation in a spreadsheet. If the world was created using a word, consult the resulting numeric seed shown by the game.

Also record Java or Bedrock and the version. An upgraded world can contain regions generated in earlier versions; the current version may not describe all of its terrain.

Check the details on the map

Enter the seed and select an available edition and version. Begin at a location you know and remember that this tool shows experimental predictions rather than reading your save.

Then you can look for villages or find a cherry grove. If something does not match, check the world details before changing destinations.
