Your starting point
Choose your edition and version, open the Overworld and select Village in the Nearby tab. Pick an origin and compare distances before setting off.

Before you start
Have your numeric world seed, edition and version ready. Check Java and Bedrock separately: sharing a seed does not guarantee identical structure locations. On a server, ask its administrator for the world details.
Choose the version relevant to the terrain you want to explore. An upgraded world can retain areas generated earlier. This map calculates predictions; it does not read your save or detect buildings changed by players.
Before starting, read how to find your seed. If you need villagers for a build, see the checks for Java iron farms or Bedrock iron farms.
Search from your base
The button in this guide prepares Village as your destination. Where possible, it retains the world you were using in this browser tab; always check the settings before searching.
- Enter your seed and confirm the edition and version on the map.
- Open Nearby and choose My coordinates to enter your base’s X and Z. You can also search from the visible map center.
- Start with a 1,024-block radius. If nothing appears, expand to 2,048 or move the origin.
- Choose View on map to enable the village layer and center a result. Copy its X/Z coordinates to refer to while playing.
Choose a village to travel to
Distances are straight lines between X/Z positions. A slightly farther village might be easier to reach if it avoids a mountain or ocean. The map shows biomes, not terrain height or a walkable route.
Without a map, explore biomes that can contain villages, including plains, deserts, savannas and taigas. Village materials vary with the surroundings; desert villages, for example, use sandstone.
If your world does not match
Check the seed, including any minus sign, and make sure X and Z have not been swapped. Then check the edition and version. Custom worlds, add-ons and terrain generated in earlier versions can make a prediction differ from your save.
A marker indicates a predicted generation position, not a particular house or the exact /locate coordinate. Look around the point and verify it in the game. No results inside the radius does not mean there are no villages anywhere in the seed.
Common questions
Is the closest result the best village? It is only the shortest straight-line distance among results in the search radius. The search does not evaluate roads, buildings or villagers.
Do I need a Y coordinate? Village searches return X/Z, not a height suitable for teleporting. Use the coordinates for orientation and check the terrain in the game.
